Just a couple days after confirming her appearance, Pocono Mountain Film Festival officials announced Jessica Biel would be a no-show at the weekend festival this month.
Representatives for Biel, who was to receive the festival's Humanitarian Award with her father for starting the Make the Difference Network, informed the festival Wednesday it wouldn't be able to fit with her schedule.
She's currently in Vancouver filming "The A-Team," and the cross-country flight and tight production schedule — the movie is planned to release early next June — would make it near-impossible for her to attend the event.
"We thought she was coming, then she wasn't, then she was, now she's not," Bernie Shoemaker, a marketing representative for the festival, said. "It's disappointing."
There are arrangements being made to have Biel possibly appear at the festival with a live-link satallite feed, but it is not known yet if that can happen.
If it doesn't work, Sheomaker said she likely will tape an acceptance and thank you speech that will air at the festival.
Jon Biel, her father and the co-founder of the Make the Difference Network, still is planning on attending to accept the award, Shoemaker said.
"We called Blue Ridge Cable to see if they had anything that could help us, and we're looking into that," he said.
The other film star appearance at the festival seems to be in better standing. Shoemaker said John Leguizamo, star of the "Ice Age" movies, "Moulin Rogue" and "The Happening," re-confirmed Wednesday he'd be there.
"When we heard about (Biel), we called John's people right away to make sure he was still coming, and they said yes," Shoemaker said.
Biel is the former star of the the television show "7th Heaven" and "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry." She was recently named "The Most Dangerous Celebrity in Cyberspace" because there are more online threats at Web sites advertising Biel gossip, her pictures and other items.
